Dad to be in Guinness Book of World Records.........

I am so estatic!!!! I just got off the phone with my mom and she told me that my dad is going to be in the Guinness Book of World records. It won't be him all by himself, rather him and 99 other people. So you might be wondering why he is going to be in the guinness book of world records. Well my dad flys remote controlled model airplanes. Right now him and my mom are on vacation in Georgia at a model airplane event. Tomorrow they plan on breaking the old record of having the most model airplanes in flight at one time. The old record was 47 model airplanes in air at once by a group in South Africa. There will be 100 pilots with thier airplanes in the air at one time at this event tomorrow. The only thing that could keep them from achieving this is that they are expecting rain tomorrow. So please everyone keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't rain. I can't wait for the book to be published with my dad in it. I told my mom that I am going to get me a copy of the book and have my dad sign it. My dad's name, where he's from, and what airplane he flew will all be published in the book along with the other 99 pilots. This is just so exciting! I have included a link to a news article about this, it doesn't say too much about it. But I thought I would include it anyways. http://www.americustimesrecorder.com/local/local_story_115002044.html Anyways to make this a true discussion. Have you ever known anyone to make it into the Guinness Book of World records? If so, what for? Have you ever tried to break a world record yourself? Or maybe you have made it into the book for something?

Good luck to your dad and the others hope the rain holds off. A guy I worked with is a magician and he did make it in the book for doing shows in 24 cities in 24 hours.

Wow, I'm aesthetic. That's history in the making! You must be so proud of your dad for making it to the Guinness Book of World Records. Congratulations to him!!! It is no small mean feat to get one's name in that book, something I'm sure everyone wishes to achieve if they could. It means you are the best in whatever you do, hence the recognition. I'd probably never have the chance of breaking any world records, although there are some records from my country.

Wow, that is cool. I imagine that is not very easy to do. If you ever manage to pull it off please let us know. Some people have no fear and will try to do anything. Has anyone ever gotten seriouly hurt trying to put thier head in a crocodile's jaws for that long? I know I would never do something like that.

Wow! I am so happy for you and your family. I know this is something he can be proud of, and a good legacy to pass on to his Grandchildren. I bet this will be an exciting time for the ones flying the planes, it sounds like an enjoyable experience. Maybe the rain will hold off until they are done.No I haven't done anything to get into Guinness, nor do I know anyone, I do watch the Ripleys show, and I find there are some very interesting things, what people won't do for their 15 seconds, LOL.

Yes people will do just about anything for 15 seconds of recognition. LOL! As for my dad, the event took off without a hitch. They managed to get 100 airplanes in the air at one time. So into the book they go! They are also planning trying to break the record again next year.

That is great that your dad is going to be in the Guinness Book of World Records. I don't know of anyone that is in there nor have a ever tried to get in the book. I really have no time or desire to try to break a record. But I think it's great that other people do it.

Yeah, I would never try to do something to get into the book of world records. But I think it is awesome that my dad will get to be in it. I think that it is a something really outstanding to be able to hold a world record for something. It's a great accomplishment! Of course it won't be my dad all by himself, but just the fact that my dad was part of it, is great in itself.

That is awesome! Congratulations to you and your family! It is good that the rain held off! It would be sad to not be able to break the record because of weather. I don't think I have ever known anyone to be in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Wow I am so pleased for your dad, you must be so proud of him. Thank you for sharing. I am answering this from email notification so I really hope the weather stayed good and that they achieved their goal. One of my ex-boyfriends was in it in around 1986 with the Queens Colour Squadron for the longest continuous rifle and foot drill of which there were 72 of them, but other than that I am not aware of anyone else. Hi speedy, I am very happy for your father. I'm sure he will be very proud to have been entered in the book of world records. I can remember when I was young and everyone was trying to break a record so they to could be in this book. I personally do not know anyone that has gotten into the book that I know of. Nor can I remember ever trying to break a record for this book in the past. Maybe one day I will get the inkling to try but that day is not today...Best of luck to your dad...Mamablaze!!

Hello speedy1279! Congratulations to yourself and your dad! It must be a very exciting and joyous news for you and your family. I hope that it doesn't rain tomorrow and that they get into the world records book. I don't know, on personal level, anyone who made it to that book, though I have met few from my country (only once or twice) who are enlisted there. Good luck!

Wow that's really amazing. I think Guinness is too far from me. I know no one who is on the book or is about to break the record. I only know the person from tv. It's really fatastic that you dad is going to do that. May it will not rain tomorrow. I myself have never thought of breaking a world record. It seems to be something impossible to me, even I always told myself nothing is impossible.
