Affidavit of heirship

My husband recently passed away leaving some money in his credit union savings account. We had been married for 16 years, but when he opened the account 25 years ago he put his wife at that time on the account, she could not get any money out or any access, he had to put her name on since he was married. Now the credit union will not give me the money even though his will leaves everything to me. They say I need a Affidavit of Heirship and then they will consider giving me the money. What do I need to do and what is this form they are talking about.
