my friend is getting married next week and one of its highlight is of the cake. it costs 25% of the total expenditure of the wedding. do you think it's reasonable to have that cake. they're not that rich, they just want to have the cake of the century in their place. what's your opinion about that?

I personally do not understand justifying a cake THAT expensive. Not even my wedding gown was 25% of my budget. Do they have a lot of guests to feed and that's why it's so much, or are they just being spoiled? There are plenty of corners to cut that won't detract too much from the look of the cake, but make a huge difference in price. I'm personally getting my cake from a novice who wants to build her experience and portfolio and eventually open her own bakery and therefore only charges the cost of supplies. They look great anyway, I'm not worried at all.
