How do you generate traffic to your money sites?

I am just curious and I need some ideas on how to generate more traffic to my blog, and to my pay sites! I have been working with link exchange and another one similar to that, but I have not had much luck. How do you generate traffic (for free) to your blogs or money making sites? Even I am looking for the same here. I am also trying to generate traffic to my blog so that I can make money. But I did not succeed in this regard. Probably some of the posts here helped me and I need to follow these steps mentioned here. Thanks for the post. cheers
