Friends, I just found out a thank you for signing up from a certain paid to click site which I never signed up at. The date was May 4, but how come, I didn't sign up at any site during these last three days. I have changed this email account's password many times, so I'm curious ... Is my email account getting hacked? Or someone I knew just tried to mess things up with me by signing me up as the person's down referral? It seemed like I have to close this email account from now on.

I have also had thank yous or confirmation requests from websites I did not sign up for but none of the people I know had done this either. It is just another type of "pfishing" email. I just remove it as "spam" from email.

Since you mentioned it, I’m also thinking the same about some kind of “phishing”. However, now I start become curious, there was one certain site where I signed up with this email account (but later I quitted from their program after getting spammed by “congratulations! You won $400 prize” phishing mails). I am wondering if this was the same phisher? I have done some tracking towards the sender of the “thank you” mail I mentioned in this discussion, and seemed to me that the certain same guy was the number one suspect to me. Well, the only thing I have to do right now is to delete this email account from now on. I’m not in the mood of ‘playing hide and seek’ around.

Maybe you have save(remember) your login name and password to your browser. This is one disadvantage of that, any one can be you. It is a good practice to just type in your login info

very much awakening alert. I often keep signing into some forum sites because later I still want to post during the same page. Mostly I signed out when I end my working day at the noon. so my browser should have opened the possibility of the problems. :( I would take your advice from now on. thanks for alerting me about the case.

it might be a spam. Someone picked up your email account and is trying to lure you into something. It does not necessarily mean that your account his hacked

i guess you should close your email for good and create another one. hackers would trace your passwords even if you change them (i guess) unless you create a new one

Yes it sounds like someone is using your personal information to do their dirt. Also, do you share a computer? Do you keep yourself logged in? Do you use IP Proxy? Yes, if I was you I would change my email address and any passwords. All of them, if possible. Who ever done this will not have any good luck, I can tell you that!

I don’t share computer with anyone, but share the internet connection with my Dad. However, sometimes when I’m just too lazy in signing in back again because I plan on returning to the same page (not my email account) during the same day, I would keep myself logging in, but signing out when I really end the online times for the day. I would change all the passwords of my accounts, as you advised. Thanks for informing me.
