IT has never been my aim in the life, however, I have received a good IT education. And I like to help people with their computer problems. But as I am a woman, it is hard for me to find a job in the IT field as a professional. Most of the companies want only men, as they think that men are more competitive. I have worked as a teacher, but they do not pay as much as for the job in the IT department. Has anybody experienced the same problem?

I dont think so. Personally i am a programmer for 4 years. But i have to admit that is very hard to find job when i just graduate cause i do not have any experience. When i have gain enough experience. It is not tat hard as i expected. I think what company expect from u is how much u know about IT or technology that you have.

i dont think it is hard.. are you a programmer? or your IT specialization involves hardwares? if you are a programmer, do not lose hope.. i have seen quite a number of IT professional that are women too.. out IT manager is a woman, our IT director is, again a woman.. all doing very well in their field.

You may be right. Only lady programmers in the IT field gains with their ability, with such company's like infosys, wipro and satyam etc. Be a software professional will be my advice. Repairing computers for some clients will require constant traveling which may not be suitable for ladies. Best of luck.
