We have a new puppy she is an akita and 3 months old. The only problem is she leaks. We have had her home for a 10 days she has been on antibiotics for a week and has another week to go then back to the vet. She is doing better but still leaks when she lays down. She didn't do this the week before we got her and she was staying at my brothers house. She started having a problem 2 days after we got her home. We love her to pieces but this is so frustrating. We paid a lot of money for this pup as she is pureblood. The breeder won't answer my emails either. Guess I just wanted to vent.

Oh, how awful for you both! I am assuming you talked to the vet about it. Did he/she have any ideas on what could cause it? Perhaps when you finish the meds. she will stop leaking. They do make doggy 'diapers'. (They are for a female when she is in heat) They are like little panties and you put a pad in them () like women's panti-liners)perhaps you could look into them. That could help you have to bathe her less often. Baths are not good for any dog to often. It washes away the natural oils and can irritate their skin. I so hope you can keep her and get the problem solved! GOOD LUCK!!

Well we are keeping her no matter what we love her and have invested too much in her already to let her go. I have seen the doggy diapers and if our vet says this can't be fixed that is what we will be doing. It has gotten better but we are still dealing with it. Other than that she is a wonderful baby smart as a whip, gorgeous (check out the avitar), and sweet as she can be.

Akita's are beautiful dogs and your precious baby is no exception. Good luck with her I am sure she is well worth the trouble.

I guess your doing all you can do...Love her and try to be understanding and taking her to the vet...It is not her fault and I know you understand this...The person you bought her off of should have been up front about the complete health...soemtimes though we do not get the complete truth when buying a pet...Good luck with you new sweet puppy...Hope the vet can help her out..:)
