Do you make your own bread?

Once I heard that the price of wheat products would be going up, I went out and bought 25 pounds each of bread flour and all-purpose flour, and have been using my bread machine much more to bake bread. Is anyone else baking their own bread to save money on groceries?

I used to bake my own bread quite a bit, but I haven't done it in awhile now. Since I have been so busy with school and working, I haven't really had the time that I need to make it myself. I don't have a bread machine though, so I have to do it the old fashioned way, which makes it more complicated! I have been thinking that now that I'm married, I might start making my own bread again to save a little money and also just because I like baking a lot. :)

I use to go to A Culinary Arts School they taught us how to make all kinds of bread that was like 15 yrs, ago, I can't remember much about it. I did try one and I didn't let it rise enough. about 2 yrs, ago, This one Lady sent me a recipe, because I asked who could back bread, I still have that recipe, and I am going to use it one day. I like the Old fashion bread.

I usually use the dough cycle on my bread machine and then put it in a regular bread pan to bake. I don't like the shape of the loaf that comes out of the bread machine.

No, I don't make my own bread. Nowadays, the price of flour is really increasing but bakers found practical and cheap ways to save. Instead of using flour, they tend to use potato and squash. They turn these veggies into flour and use it in baking.

I make potato bread, and you use mashed potatoes in the recipe, but still use regular flour. I haven't made any from squash, but have made pumpkin bread - but it's the same way, you use pureed pumpkin in the recipe but still use flour.

I generally use my bread machine unless I need to make a large quantity at once. I dont' like the shape of the loaf that comes out of the machine though, so I run it on the dough cycle and then put it in a regular loaf pan to raise and bake.
