What do you do when you're a housewife?

I recently moved from Malaysia to Switzerland to join my hubby who works here, thus having to give up my job back at home. I don't do well being unemployed so I have been trying to keep and stay as busy as possible. I can't exactly find a job because the M'sian authorities like to take their sweet time giving me my necessary paperwork to get my residence permit. =.= So every day I go online, I clean, I cook...and while I do go out, after a while it gets...boring. Anyone with any suggestions on what to do without breaking the law OR anyone going through anything similar? What do you do to stay sane?

Suggestions: - Take a walk and discover your area. - Go to the supermarket not buy thing but just check out the prices, do a survey Sign up for Tupperware (I think there is in Switzerland) and earn extra cash by doing facial home spa and custom kitchen planning for your customers - do a cooking demo - Wash your car, repaint your house (if it needs a repainting even on certain areas) - Make friends with some old folks and go visit them or help them or even cook a meal for them. Just some suggestions here and I think i would do it if I am in Switzerland or move to anywhere .

Thanks for the suggestions! :) I usually go out for walks and window shopping regularly - as it turns out, I'm more familiar with the place than my hubby who has been here longer. I like the idea of visiting old folks...I love voluntary work. Now if I can just get over my shyness when it comes to speaking French... ^.^

Hi, ediona I know it's very dull to stay at home all the day, so I can understand you. But I think you'd better ask you hubby what he thinks and then decide what to do . Or may be you'd better go out to have a look, making some new friends, and by this your "agony" may be will reduced

I can understand your situation. it does get extremely boring just sitting at home. I think you are already taking a step in the right direction, though. The fact that you are taking part in constructive activities online like myLot, etc. really demonstrates that. I think you are already blogging for pay (paid posts), right? Is that your blog URL on your profile page? If so, I loved it...it's a very nice one!! (you can see mine on my profile page too) So, that's a good way to keep busy. There are thousands of people who are working full-time online itself, and they are so busy that they have no time to get depressed etc. Are there any people you can make friends with or any types of clubs etc nearby that you can join? It's nice to have someone around even just to go the supermarket with etc.

Well, on top of other stuff my wife & I are doing eBay as well. Hmm...but then everything will be in Swiss then at your end. But I guess it doesn't matter, you can still sell on eBay.com though you have to pay some fees. eBay Malaysia is still free so we don't have much of a problem on the fees part. Anyway we have oversea buyers coming to buy from us as well. So we save on the fees of listing in eBay.com. And yeah, blogging is cool too as they pay you
