do you think we will ever get a handle on it? I don't think we will ever win the war on terrorism. There are too many different countries that have different beliefs than ours. Their societies are different as well as their cultures and religious beliefs. I feel each country is entitled to their own ways and beliefs. what are your thoughts?

Our government is creating terrorists, has a vested interest in continued terrorism, and commits acts of terrorism on an ongoing basis. You say other countries have different beliefs, so, does this mean you think America is all Christian? I am an ex-christian, I am a follower of the Tao, I am pretty fed up with right wing Christians trying to make their rules our laws. We were founded on the premise of freedom to worship how we want.. yet daily our freedoms are being taken away. It is very simple to make a terrorist, it is virtually impossible to unmake one. As long as we have an administration that 1. lies to the people and engages in war 2. violates our own laws, 3. violates the Geneva convention and many many other international agreements, we have no hope of getting a handle on terrorism. If you do a comparison between our nation now, and Germany when Hitler was on the rise, I think you would be mortified at the similarities. The passing of the Military Commission act this year, was parallel to something Hitler did.. more of our freedoms are taken away.. there is in one of my blogs a very long list of the things that the Bush administration is doing/has done, that are taking America down the path to being a facist dictatorship.

Are you happier with the way Clinton handled North Korea. He didn't break any rules, did everything by the book. But we now have a nuclear weapon aimed at us. I think this president did what he could. You can't go by the rules unless everyone is following them. That just leaves us sitting ducks.

America is honorable, and don't think terrorists aren't taking advantage of that fact. Creating terrorist, no, they were already there. Hindering their efforts, yes.

what a great comment and a completely accurate. I don't understand how we can continue to "fight terrorism", when right now the united states are the terrorists. The war is not only unwinnable, it is also pointless. I completely agree with everything you said here and as you know, there is even more to it than that, our coutry is in such a state of disarray that i don't know how or if we will recover from the damage of GWB's presidency

There will always be terrorism, because there will always be somebody wanting to rule the world. Freedom is not free and unfortuneately we have to defend ourselves. War is a miserable, ugly situation, but one that has to be. If you lay down your arms, then 911 happens. As far as Iraq is concerned, I felt that is something that had to happen. Saddam did have WMD's at one time, he used them on his own people. He had enough suspicious activity to make the whole world think so and some of our nations went to war. If that's not reason enough, he did try to take Saudi Arabia to gain the world's oil supply. We stopped him then too. I don't know about you, but I need gas. Also, it has been proven he has sheltered people in Alquieda, to me another good reason. I do believe we had good reason to go to war and get Saddam out, now it's just about protecting the people after we took their dictator away. It's our responsibility. Iran is waiting to grasps the spoils of war.(Iraq) The war with Saddam was won. With Alquieda, not yet, maybe never. At least someone is trying to protect our people, our country. If Bush had let this lay with treaty's, then we would have another North Korea threatening us on our hands. Iran will be next. Will you want no war. What will we do when they have a nuke aimed at us. Hate war not somebody wanting to protect us from terrorists. Diplomacy does not always work, and at least I can say this sitting president did try diplomacy. By the way, my son is in the military and feels the same way I do. He is in active duty as we speak. He is a nuke engineer. I respect your opinion and understand you hate the war, but I would like to hear your solutions to the problem of terrorist and war with Iraq.

Also, I really can't see how you can say we are acting like terrorists. We are trying to protect a nation, not seize it. We are trying to leave it in peace, not rule it. Our government is not perfect, but terroritsts they are not.

TOTALLY AGREE !!! Unfortuantely if we want freedom we are going to have to fight for it. I am not terrible sure of my history, but I believe the UK was the first to have some sort of democracy with the signing of the Magna Carta??? However, just about ever since we have had to fight to keep our way of life. Freedom of speach is one thing that I personally do not want to loose. It is when yuo cannot say what you want when you want that you realise what sort of country you live in. Ask my wife!!! She has just realised that for 50 years the USSR was telling lie after lie after lie. However.... the majority of people at the time believed what they was being told!!!! Amazing thing Democracy. Dont loose it!!

If they choose to attack us, then we have no choice but to go back and root them out. Better to fight them over there than to have them come back here and attack again. We let them attack the World Trade Centre twice, the USS Cole, embassies in Africa and do other things. It's time to take the fight to them as much as possible.

I agree we need to fight back. that is not an issue in my book! I also agree it's better to fight them over there. Heck we have enough violence here in the US without fighting terrorism here! I would not want anymore violence on our soil! we've had enough so I too agree it's best to fight the wars over there! good comment!

There are just too many people all over the world who place no value on human life. It's impossible to find and eradicate them all.

Unfortunately it is an unwinnable war!!!! There are too many forces at work that are determined to stop democracy from starting, no matter where in the world we go. People of the world are now looking at America the same way as they looked at us Brits years ago !!!! Colonalists They think we want their country or whatever. When you look at it, most of the countries that are now independent from British Rule are not as wealthy as they was when the brits where there. There are some exceptions, of course However, while we have terrorsits who do not want democracy, the world will continue to be as it is.... Dangerous

I agree it is a dangerous world we all live in no matter where we live. terrorism is a sad thing but will never end. it is an unbeatable battle. I am so glad however that we do have some countries that have the same focus so to speak. There will always be some countries that do not want democracy unfortunately. I agree with your post!
