Are you happy with your hair type?

When I was younger I did whatever I could to take the curl out of my curly hair. My sister used to help by placing newspaper over it and ironing it on a board. This would work for a little while if the humidity wasn't high but it wasn't the best results. I even went so far as to getting what was called a reverse perm. This did last for a few days but it was not like what I really expected. I guess I have always wanted to have straight hair until I got older and watched people with straight hair pay to get curly hair. Are you happy with your hair or would you like to change it to curly/ straight?

Funny you should say this, because as someone with straight hair, I always wanted curly hair when I was younger..Then as I got older, my hair got a little thicker and has some body to it and I want it more straight.. (Think I have a case of just not accepting what I have.. )

I don't think any woman is happy with their hair until they get older. I myself have learned to accept it and now I'm glad I don't have to get perms. It did lose some of the kinky curl as I got older and that was what bothered me the most. Thick and curly, always a pain to brush or comb.

You have experienced both so which do you like best? Funny how we blame our parents for such little things.

Hi Kowgirl-being honest I like curly hair the best or at least wavy-but their is nothing I can do about it now-would love to have my daughters hair as mine was exactly the same at one time-now I have hair extensions even though they are straight too it has grown on me as there are different stles you can put it in-plus curly-but my son is the best for doing that even though he isn't a hairdresser!! your friend littleowl

I have thick hair with a wave and a cowlick that makes it very hard to have certain hairstyles that are very popular. It just looks weird with some cuts just because the hair is so thick and doesn't lay right. It likes to flip outward and curling it under with a curling iron doesn't do a thing because the hair is so thick it just likes to do it's own thing. Most women at my age experience thinning hair and I expect mine to thin out as I get older. But, the women on my mom's side and the men and women on my dad's side both have very thick hair until they die, so I might have to live with that a long time. I know that some people reading this might not consider this a problem, but it's hard when you've got a mom that constantly criticizes your hairstyle because you can't get it to behave.

I remember when my mom would get so mad when she had to comb my hair. It took so long to get it done and then in just a few minutes it would look like it had never been combed. She was always saying to me "Go brush your hair,it looks like rats have been in it". One day I picked up the scissors and cut it off. I have wore my hair short until just recently, but I plan on having it cut soon. Too thick for summer.

I am not happy at all with my hair type. Its a dry type so I had to deal with hair damage and dandruff all my life. Not to mention my hair is hard as a needle. Hard to handle even I already use conditioner all time. Not to mention too thick. usually hairdresser do not wanted me as their client. Cause when they cut my hair they said as if they cut 2 people hair than just one people.

That's the way curly hair is, dry thick and unruly. Have you noticed how busy hairdressers get when you walk into the shop? Not one of them likes to cut our hair. I guess they feel like we should pay them double.
