How do you view failure?

In life we tend to focus on the successes more than the importance of failure. Without failure we would never know how it feels to succeed. Imagine if your whole life things were handed to you on a plate without any complications or obstacles. You would tend to accept life as easy ride. But along the way failure is designed into the plan so we fully appreciate our progress in the learning experiences in life. Our views of these two experiences in our life shapes our character and says a lot about who we are and how we look at life. So how do you view failure?

Failure means you just have to get back up and try again. I realize that the best hitters in baseball have a batting average of only about .350. That's the best hitters, and they only get a hit 3 or 4 times out of 10. So I realize we have to try, try again.

failure...It will always be a part of our life,we can't succeed if we don't encounter any failure in our endeavors...It's just a test that we have to confront and overcome so we may be able to realize what is really meant for us....It's a negative word but it's true essence is positive,we learn from our failures. It brings out the best in us.

That is a good point about the word being negative. There are many words that by connotation become negaitve....for example the word "ignorance" (which I have used quite a bit on here over the last few weeks) it sounds like a horribly negative word, but the actual meaning is lack of knowledge...which you can turn into knowledge once you realize not to dwell on the emotional attachments associated to the word.... oh god, that was a deep thought. I have to rest now. LOL

I think failure teaches us what we can do even when we feel like we can't. I think it is Gods way of revealing the best in us, and not just the common/limited in us. If we fall, we get back up, but pick the best decision next time. Sometimes this lets us know that we can accomplish the best with courage.

It does produce courage. Because we have gained some type of knowledge from each attempt. I forgot to mention that thanks for the input. It's nice to see there are people out there who do not get hung up on the bad side of things.

hello taface412, i grow up believing that a failure is only a state of mind and there is no such thing as failure coz a failure only exist if you never learn from it and if you dont do something about it. like most, i have stumbled in life but in the process and while walking to such journey, i build a life and personality that helps me to get up and continue in times like that. i have learned that a "failure" is a sweet fruit of life itself and should always be accepted with open arms and complete understanding. it helps me to be a better person and be the person now and i hope it helps me to continuously learn life and grow with it. takecare!

For me, failure is part of life...and we must accept it. We must never be hopeless when we failed to achieve something in life. It is rightly said that every failure is a stepping stone to success. Thus, whenever you encounter failure, be more determined to move to success..In this way, the path to success becomes more challenging and the obstacles like failure must be overcame confidently.

for me, failure is when we are not willing to try anymore... we stop trying on something and give up hope... that's when we fail... as long as we still wiling to try and have a hope, we are not a failure... and i agree with you that failure is the mother of success... if we never failed before, we can never understand success as well...

failures are part of life. i think they are the most difficult situation for a person to actually accept failures. it is also same for me. initially i find it very hard to look at it. then when i come to terms i try to accept those.

I think failure is a planned effort that didn't work. It shows us we need to try again.Only on a different path. Hence the saying "If at first you don't succeed try, try again" If we succeeded at every thing every time, life would be boring.

I think failure is necessary as you say in order to know what success feels like. It is also a life lesson to teach a person humility, perserverance, and not to quit. Failure is a necessary lesson in order to succeed. It doesn't feel good, but it is surely worth it!

For me failure is exposure under the sun, dying for thirst, sweating tremendously, and hardly able to walk. And after such, a glass of water is a quencher, it is not just a glass of water but a miracle, a life saving water, a water from the fountain of youth. Achievements and successes will never ever taste as sweet as a water. Unless you have experience the need of water, unless you undergo things that would make you say, I was beaten real hard, but I did it.

I dont like failure, but I know it will definitely make me to be a stronger and tougher person. So, whenever I made mistake or fail to achieve some goal, I'll allow myself to have a short self-pity time. Then, I'll ask around to seek help or solve it myself until i overcome the failure!!!

I believe things happen for a reason, that if you don't get what you want then it wasn't meant to be. So I just do my best. After that I don't care about the result anymore. If I fail, I'll learn my lessons then move on.

I view failures as challenges. Each time I fail, I become more motivated to do the best that I can. I also see lots of opportunities in every failure. There is no reason to fear failure. It happens to most of us. Even Albert Einstein, a genius. Einstein failed an examination that would have allowed him to study for a diploma as an electrical engineer at a technical college. We have to stand up every time we fall and pursue our goals!

Well, failure! Whether it'll become a disaster or not depends on you. If you think it is a disaster then it is, if you view it as a lesson it'll surely do you good. Sometime you need self-adjustment. I remember when i was 16, after failed an important exam that i can't attend the best high school in my county while all of my friends go there. At the beginning i thought the world turned its back on me and i was upset about almost everything. Thanks to God that i did self-adjustment and i was getting better and better. 2006, when it came to my most important exam ---college entrance exam i did quite well. So even you failed don't just give up, it's another kind of precious experience that maybe others won't be able to have! Have a nice day!

Failure is a postponed success. If we can learn from our mistakes, I'm sure we can do whatever it is we have begun better and there's a good chance that the success we get will be more meaningful than success without failure. You know, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. That's what I think...

I agree with you. Failure is as important as success. It is part of our learning process. It is what makes us strive to do more and be more than we already are. Besides, life would be too boring if we succeed in everything.

I view my failure as a lesson for me. I believe that success in life without failure is nothing. I appreciate it if I failed something in that way, I will know that I would not have to repeat it again.
