COMMON SYMPTOMS OF VIRUS IN YOUR PC RUNNING WINXP your computer becomes dead slow in processing hard disk volumes, or when you try to open task manager PC shutdowns abruptly, when you try to open disk volumes it gets open in new window, registry editor tool not opening(in 'Run' command type 'regedit'), u cant view your hidden files because there is no folder option been showed in tools menu, in short if you try to access any configuration utility, your computer starts behaving abnormally.well these are just few of the symptoms that show your computer is screwed up. REMOVING THOSE VIRUSES Lets get started by starting your computer in safe mode. (because no extra program runs in safe mode, only essential programs required to run the system are active) for this to happen restart your computer and as soon as the computer is about to start keep pressing F8 key number of times to interrupt the booting process. There you get a screen with various choices like "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode with command prompt" etc. At this point select "safe mode with command prompt" and start your PC.(it may take some time, have patience), once inside the system select your own username to start the windows session. there you would get a command window. Here just a little bit of recall, was your registry editor and task manager getting opened, if no then follow through step 1 or if yes then jump to step 4. 1. type in command prompt the following command :- reg delete hkcu\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system /v "DisableRegistryTools" (this particular command is for virus called brontok which disables the registry tools, once that registry value is deleted then type 'explorer' in the command prompt and enter) 2. open registry editor tool from the RUN command by typing in 'regedit' now expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEsoftwaremicrosoftwindowscurrentversionRun on the right hand side delete any word containing 'TOK' words (this is to prevent the Brontok virus from executing itself the next time you start your system, so now restart the system) 3. after restarting again open registry tool and follow this path HKEY_CURRENT_USERsoftwaremicrosoftwindowscurrentversionpolicies on the right hand side delete the value 'NoFolderOption'. Now open task manager(ALT+CTRL+DEL) in the prcesses tab click on 'explorer.exe' and end it.now click on application tab and in 'New Application' type 'explorer' and enter now that folder options is available in tools menu of your windows explorer, open view tab and c
