What's Bollywood all about?

I saw a Bollywood video on You tube the other day and it was spectacular. What is this Bollywood all about? Is it some type of musical? Was it a movie? I guess I'm kind of new to the entire Bollywood scene. But, I would definitely like to learn more about it.
If you are a Bollywood fan, can you please tell me why you love Bollywood or which parts you like best? And, if possible, do you have any really good links to more free Bollywood videos? Thanks.

Like Hollywood movies means movies out of a particular area in the US, Bollywood means movies out of Bombay (now called Mumbai), and more specifically movies in the national language of India-Hindi
Many languages and dialects are spoken indifferent states in India and full feature movies (generally 2 to 3.5 hours long) are made in different languaues. So a movie out of the state of Karnataka (Bangalore is the capital of this state) is called a movie from Sandalwood, similarly, we have movies from other states and they'd be movies from Kollywood or Tollywood..... Annually around 900-1000 new movies are released in India.

That is phenomenal information!
I'm definitely hooked.
I've seen some of the movies, but don't understand
the language. They seem to have very intricate plot lines.
