These days, it seems, inter-relation between students and teachers are becoming confusing for both of them. Traditionally students used to look toward teachers for guidance but nowadays as information gap widens between them every day, the teachers are perplexed how to reach the students minds while students are becoming distant as they are not getting answers to their satisfaction. Primarily these conflicts are becoming more noted in traditional societies where teachers were viewed as role models and imparters of education. What we have to understand is that with the advent of digital age and everyone connected through net the role of teachers must change, so as to, suit the modern demands and needs. A young brain is curious of multitude of things, more so with television and internet beaming them with enormous amount of exposure and data from cutting age space exploration to ancient worlds. Hence the role must change from model and imaprter to facilitator and regulator to some extent. Nevertheless this transition phase should end as quickly as possible otherwise we may end up with generations confused which path to tread on while teaching

This is really a very inspiring post. I teach in college and my relationship with my students go way beyond just the teacher-student relationship. Of course, I know my limitations too. I think I really do not have a problem cultivating relationships with my students because the age gap is not that much. It is also nice for teachers to be sensitive to the needs of their students. This is one way of letting them feel that they can run to you in time of needs.
