What will you do with a 750-GB external hard drive?

HEllo guys, i just have recently ordered through a friend in Singapore a Maxtor 750-GB external hard drive. its dimensions are 6 x 6.5 inches with depth of 3.5 inches. I am so excited! This is will make my backing up a cinch. I have been burning my files to blank dvds and looking for a specific back up can be very tedious. sometimes, i feel like a card player going through each dvd like crazy. plus burning dvd backups can take a long time and my laptop ends up hanging and i have to stop from work for a little while. how about you? what are you going to do with a 750-GB hard drive? which brand do you prefer? mine is maxtor hands down:-D hope to hear from you...

Dear friend, I also would use it for storing the backup, may be songs collections, movies collections, may many other good games so on goes. At last it may become full and my computer may get slow or crashing with softwares. Any I could mainly use for games storing, other softwares, movies, songs, so on goes.

I'd probably plug it to our PC like a typical hard disk. Indeed, externals are convenient but, I think I wouldn't be going anywhere with it, considering the amount it is capable of. I'd be using simple flash disks for files that I need to carry along when I need to. One thing though that concerns me is that if its not in partition, files are susceptible to viruses, especially when you plug it into other computers, like those at computer shops. Having it in partition, though doesn't certainly clear it from being infected by viruses, at least it wouldn't be entirely infected. Just video files, disk images, photos, documents, like the typical hard disk indeed. Any brand would do good, they all both serve the same purpose for me anyway.

An 80 Gig and a 40 Gig.. I use to have three hard disk drives but I had to take the third one out so that I can plug a power supply the the video card. I guess I'd get a SATA next time if possible..

that is a quite big of storage space.if i have that i no longer have to delete anything.even 80GB external hardisk is not enough for me right now.if i have that big hardisk i will keep on downloading lots of movies,tv dramas and games.i love to download things. i could also back up all my software and documents in it if i reformat my laptop again.

hello.. yup, we have the same size for my laptop and i do agree it's not enough. before, i just had 40Gb and boy, was i happy...however, i kept on burning files and it becomes a hassle so having this big of size will be making backup and storing files a walk in the park

I would PUT ALL my files, etc. on my computer, for the simple fact that, if my computer ever needs a reformat, guess what, I still have all my songs, work etc. with me!

I don't realy need external drives yet. At the moment i've got 4x500gb seagate baracuda drives, they're pretty damn quick. 2 in raid1 and 2 in stripe.

That is really a big space. Well, if I have an external hard drive such as the one you have, I would definitely store many things there. I want to store all my photos there with my family and friends. Also, I would store my favorite movies, songs, videos and dvds of my favorite TV shows.

That's so nice that you have such a large hard drive. In fact I need more space to store my files as I have quite a lot of them. I have burned so many DVDs to store my files. If I have such a hard drive, I will store my family's photos and videos inside. I will also store my software, games, movies, music etc. Maxtor is already a good brand. I love China

In my case right now, I may not really need a storage like that. I only need a few megabytes for my files. Some are stored already on my laptop and some on my thumb drive.

I also prefer Maxtor hard drives. I also just recently bought one, mainly for same reasons, i haave so much to back up now from my main 150gb internal drive in my machine that i needed the storage and backup space without having to go through rooms full of dvd's. I don't think i'll fill it anytime soon, only filled around 200gb so far but its mostly taking my videos and music. Thats what really fills the space, everything else i put on it is miniscule in comparison, the likes of documents and presentations etc.

If I didn't have a backup drive, I'd use it for that. Since I've got my backups pretty well taken care of, I would use an extra 750GB drive for media: songs, home videos, TV shows. I prefer Seagate drives because they generally outlasted other brands that I have used. The one I have right now run very quietly also and that's a great thing if you're computer is anywhere near your bed!

wOW, That's cool... We already have an external hard drive...it's capacity is 120gb and yours is 750, it sure is really spacious...We use our external hard drives to back-up our documents especially our digital photos. I don't know what to do if my computer crashes and don't have a back-up for my photos...good thing there's an external hard drive...:)

Amazing,750-GB, so great. If I have one,I can copy all my files, movies and songs into that HD. As you know there are so many great movies and I can down load them and conntect to the TV t watch them, that will save a lot of money :) Great, if I have one, oh, I hope I will.

Nice hard drive. Its big and you will like it because you will not running out of space in a while. If I have a big hard drive like yours, I will put in many movie, picture, and song files. Also, I will backup all my computers. I wonder, why do you get the 750gb? Why don't you get the 1TB? It doesn't have a big difference in price, I think.

to backup my pc's harddrive...maybe a version control? anyway,750G sounds big enough to store everything...and do not need to delete.
