I have read The Atkins Diet book. In it Dr. Atkins claims that carbohydrates are the cause of weight gain. He further claims that bread is alien to our diet as our forefathers ate meat, berries and nuts.
But did we not eat the componants which make up bread back then?

I tried Atkins Diet and it worked for me. Problem is, I became concerned for my health because I wasn't taking in enough carbohydrates and that I'm eating meat more than before. I don't think it's healthy in the long run.

Well, in answer to that, Dr. Atkins claims that it's not about cutting carbs out of your diet, but finding the right level of carbs appropriate to your metabolism. Start off with no carbs, then built them gradually to fiind what level suits you.

I knew someone who was on it, he was buff and built and had this thick neck. When he stopped, his body changed, his neck looked different and it didn't seem like something you should start, unless you're going to continue it....you change your body when you change your diet....
