How to deal with teachers who plays favoritism in class?

When I was a student I had teachers who played favoritism in class specially to the children of a well to do families or those kids of high ranking officials. All considerations will be given to them while those who are poor whose parents are not well known are ignored and considered as less important. They are given unfair treatment with less opportunities. In todays generation, how do parents and students deal with teachers who are playing favorites? that if you are the victim. How do you handle this?
