The band was originally called "Tony Flow and The Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem". The name was too long, lol. They needed something shorter once they started to be more successful. They saw a flyer for the unknown band "Chili Willy and the Red Hot Peppers" and decided on "Red Hot Chili Peppers" Not surprisingly, they were sued by Chili Willy for stealing the name.
