Tattoo question...?

So, my Fiance and I have been discussing getting tattoo's. I have a commemerative/memorial tatto that I want quite badly on my right shoulder blade but it is going to be quite pricey, so i'm working on a smaller design to get soon. The tattoo that he wants is small so i'm trying to find something I like. I have a few ideas but me and him keep arguing about when I should get it. I really want one on my bikini line, but he doesn't like that idea. To the guys: do you think it's sexy to have a tattoo on the bikini line? To everyone: should I respect his wishes and get the tattoo elsewhere or stick to my guns?

my boyfriend and I are actually going through this same discussion. I am not getting the larger one that you are though. I already have one on my lower back(where apparently every girl who turned 18 after me got one, but I'm not bitter :) ) After we get engaged(whenever that is) we are going to get one that we have drawn together. I'm getting mine on my bikini line, and he's getting it on his shoulder(I think that's where he finally decided). I personally would get the next one where he wants it, and choose something else that is personal to you and put it on your bikini line. After re-reading that, it sounds like I'm covered in tattoos, but I'll be done after 2 i think. I would go with whatever you think is right. If you really want this one on your bikini line, then go for it. If you decide to put it where he wants it, and still want one on your bikini line, then choose something meaningful and put it there. Either way, stick to what you want, not him.

1. It is your body and you are the one that will have to live with it. I see this happen all the time at the shop; one person wants one thing and their partner tries to talk them in to something else. I never get in the middle of the fights but if I know that the person getting the ink really isn't happy about things I will tell them that I don't have the time to do them that day in the hopes that they will take my hint and come back / reschedule and come back alone. 2. As much as this might hurt to hear, you have no idea if you two will be together in a year or more so you are the one that is going to have to live with the design and placement, not him. 3. If you have a certain style, design or style that you want and money is an issue .. don't go for something else. The tattoo isn't going to go anywhere so having to wait a little while longer for it isn't a big deal. Best of luck with your ink!

Thanks for the advice. It means a lot comming from someone who works in a tattoo shop. I think I might just wait and save up for the tattoo i've always wanted. You're right to point out that it won't go anywhere - and I know i'll be really happy with it. Thanks again!

In my opinion you should do what you are going to feel comfortable with. This is something that is going to be with you forever. Its your body. He should be the one to respect your wishes. You don't tell him where to put his right?

It is your own body, so I think you should stick to what you want. You were the one who will be having it. But I tell you, if you're going to have a tattoo, think twice coz it will stay with you forever.

It is your body and you can do what you want with it. You should only get what you want. Don't argue about the tattoo, it may ruin the whole experience for you both. I do feel like you should respect his wishes on placement, just because he should be the only one that makes on if the tatt is sexy or not. Who cares what anyone else thinks. Let the whole idea go for awhile and then come back to it. You shouldn't be stressed.

when it comes down to it. You're the one whos going to have it on you forever. Don't get something because someone else wants it on you. Get whatever you want. If he wants to pick yours, you pick his.
