I remember when i was younger we couldn't wait to go trick or treating but the other night when i took my neice and nephew trick or treating there were barely any kids outside and they wanted to come home after 45 minutes....What is happening to the kids and the holiday? Is it fading out or what?

It was pretty cold and damp in my area this year, but we always get a ton of trick or treaters. My beef isn't with them not coming, it's with the older kids that are growing facial hair coming to trick or treat, and the kids that don't even bother to dress up. I actually had one teenager come to my door, and when I asked what he was dressed as, he said "a playa". I buy two bags of candy for halloween, one bag of premium candy bars that I give to everyone that's dressed up and isn't obviously in high school, and one bag of dumdum suckers for the rest of them!

In my area, it was very rainy. There were a fair amount of kids out trick or treating. I'm like you, when I was a child, it was hit as many houses as possible. Todays kids carry on conversations while they are getting their candy, ect. talking about decorations or house or pets. It is weird. I do think the holiday is fading, with so much tampering with candy, parents are afraid to send the children out. Alot of neighborhoods are doing block parties instead where everyone contributes goodies. It is a shame, I always enjoy seeing the costumes!
