Veggie Tales

Some of my container garden -
I've got my vegetables in just about every container I could get my hands on. Hey, it works!

I finally got my batteries charged enough to get some pictures posted today, so you will probably see several from me. I took this picture a week or so ago so the plants have grown considerably since then. The tomato on the left is about three times that size now, and the purple bush bean has tiny beans/flowers on it (I'll post an updated pic of that one later). I'm using every container imaginable that seems even remotely usable for my purposes. I'm especially proud of my KFC beans - that one has grown faster/stronger than any of the rest of them! The container on the left is something I picked up on the side of the road that someone was throwing away. I believe it was a child's toy refrigerator, but it had no door on it. Works for me! If you garden in containers, what do you use? Do you use traditional pots and planters, or are you more interested in being frugal than you are aesthetics?

I will have to reply to see these pictures, but when I saw your title veggie tales, I thought it was going to be about the newest veggie tale movie..

LOL ... You should know by now that when I post something, it is rarely distinguishable by the title I choose.

I am LOVIN' the KFC ones!!! That is really neat. I haven't ever done container gardening, but would probably have to go traditional. I love the look of what you have done, but I know me and if *I* did it *I* would think it looks messy or something. It is the same when I make cards sometimes- I will see a great idea in a book, but if I try to recreate it, I end up just thinking mine looks stupid. Thanks for sharing your photos...it looks great!

I thought it was a hoot! Honestly, all my beans are doing ok (I have two variety of bush - purple and regular green beans), but the one in this KFC tub has far surpassed any of the others. I don't know if it's because it's in a more breathable container rather than the plastic or metal coffee can or what, but it works for me! This pic was taken a week or so ago, so it's in even better shape now.

I love the KFC buckets. Very creative. I use traditional planters most times. We have a lot of those cheap plastic pots saved from hanging baskets. we buy new annuals and plant in them the follwoing years. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've started the seeds in most anything I could find, thinking I would transplant into larger container or the ground when the time came. Turns out this KFC bucket was the best thing yet. I did have two beans started there, but one quickly overcame the other and of course two were too much for that one container. The one was doing so well that I left it there and put the smaller one elsewhere. This large one has since sprouted several pretty purple flowers, so will definitely have beans!
