I want to make a SpongeBob Square Pants cake, any help?

My son will be turning 7 years old in a few weeks. I cannot believe its been seven years, wait I do not want to get off track here, this is a cooking discussion.
Well for his birthday I want to make him a sponge bob cake since he loves spongebob. And it seems like it wouldn't be too hard I am thinking it could be done using sheet cake pans. Has anyone made a spongebob cake? Anyone wanna share how they did it? Maybe include a picture this way I can get an idea as well.
If you haven't made a spongebob cake what type of character cakes have you made?

Here is yet another website, that actually has a website attached. It has a ton of random ingredients that most people don't just have laying around the house, but it gives you some ideas.

I also saw in passing that Cold Stone Creamery apparently has a Spongebob cake. I would work out the cost/time for making one yourself vs. buying one, unless you are going to make the cake together.
I would also check the grocery store, sometimes they can order templates, or have people talented enough to actually draw him with icing if you provide the picture(take it with you when you ask, they have drawn all kinds of random stuff for me, from a horse to a car engine).

I kind of want to do a 3d looking one and I know the bakeries and super markets around here charge an arm and a leg for them so I am gone to try my hand at making it. Lol what am I getting myself into.

i dont have any knowledge on how to bake, but i like your idea on making your child a birthday cake. i just responded here to great your child happy birthday and to tell you how cool parent you are. i may not help you on how to bake but i can help you eating the cake. har har har i am a good eater. happy birthday again to your child my friend
