Well...Its basically your aptitude thats a determining factor. If you are good at managing situations, making friends and working around with them and delivering the results...MBA is best. If you are technological geek..and enjoy working on the technology products...you better go for MS. Both of them have bright prospects...And you just need to go by what you enjoy doing....Whats life without enjoying..isnt it?

For MS: MIT and Stanford are the best For MBA : The Ivy League Universities - Harvard and Yale. There are many other very good universities. But these are the best.

It depends on your purpose. MS (Master of Science) is appropriate for anyone who would like to be a researcher or academic related job. For MBA, it suit for business job.

In my opinion, MS is harder than MBA. So, It could be less competitive in MS jobs.

Personally, I would go for MBA. I'm a student of Manufacturing Engineering. So, based on my personal interest and future plan, maybe ... going for MBA is a good choice. Not to say it right, but ... it's good to have a multiple skills and knowledge about something that might become useful for life.

This question honestly depends on what you want to do. If you are looking to work in the business aspects of mechanical engineering, then an MBA is the way to go. If you are looking to work in a technical engineering position, the MS would be a better option. Also, see if your school offers a joint degree program. Hope this helps!
