Crazy day...

In between mylotting I have been trying to organize the boys' bedroom again. I thought it wouldn't take all that long...wrong, wrong, wrong! During my first attempt I settled them in at the kitchen with their play-doh. I got things moved out of the room...but then had to come out to clean up the mess they'd made with the play-doh. While I cleaned that up the little munchkins played in my bedroom (it's next to theirs and that's where I thought they were) The dumped my laundry hamper of dirty clothes and my basket of clean folded clothes and found a black marker which they wrote on each other with. So now my bedroom looks trashed, I have three boys covered in marker, and I haven't even started putting their room back together...and I need to have dinner ready in less than 45 minutes. The baby barely got a nap, the older two keep fighting with each other...s/o will be coming off a 12 hour shift after almost no sleep, otherwise he'd be on kid duty while I got the bedrooms put back together. I do really good with the small jobs and all the basic housework but it seems like things fall apart when I try to do the big jobs...so frustrating!

Goodness Foxy that sounds like a difficult day! Too bad you can't lock them in a safe non-destructible room for a bit so you can get your stuff done. I don't know how old your boys are, but can't you enlist their help in organizing their room? Put everything in a big box and take one thing out at a time and find a good place together for it to belong. It may take longer, but may interest them in keeping their stuff tidy. When my stepson was 9ish, I warned him that anything not put away when he went to bed would be thrown away. I only had to take his stuff once. The threat of having no toys to play with was enough.

LOL...yep, one of those days! My boys are 5,3 and 1 1/2...they can be helpful but today was not one of those days. Plus their bedroom is really tiny so it's fine to have us all in there for a normal tidy up but not for a major reorganizing over haul like I was attempting today. It got half done and that was good enough for today, I'll try a little more tomorrow.

Ahhh...I did walk away from it for a while and had dinner. The room and the toys didn't go any where and the world did not come to an end LOL. I have it presentable now, I'll finish up tomorrow.

I feel your pain here foxy! I tend to loose myself when i do big jobss, even without the help of kids! I will start one thing, then find something else that stems from that thing, so i get distracted and although i keep going back to the oringal project, i'll never get it done in one day. . I know just how frusterating it is!

I remember one time, cleaning my son's room from top to bottom, the next day, he had the whole neighborhood in his room and I hear him saying ... My Mom just cleaned my room, let's trash it! The kids were gone in a heartbeat and he got quite a lecture. House cleaning is frustrating, it never ends. Just relax, what doesn't get done today will be there tomorrow, or next week or next month!
