I'm reading this book for my english exam. Is there someone who has read this one? I'm a bit late with times of lecture, and I wish if someone could tell me a little resume, just a few lines to know what it talks about, I'd be grateful!

It's a dystopia. It's about Winston Smith making his way through Oceania which is a totalitarian society in which "Big Brother is watching you." Everybody is encouraged to tell on any person seen doing anything unusual as they may be a danger to the party who runs the country. Winston starts to question the way the party rules and looks for others like himself. Eventually he comes in contact with a person who he think is anti-party, but he is wrong and ends up in the hands of the party. They brainwash him to the point that he becomes an "ideal" citizen.

Actually, it is. I enjoyed the book. I enjoyed Animal Farm as well. Orwell had a distinct outlook on government and power.

I "urge" everybody who hasn't read this book to read it. If there were a 100 list of books you must have read at least once in your life 1984 really should be on it. But do beware that it is not a "jolly" piece of writing. It's awfully interesting, and even today with all the new technology we have it still seems quite "modern". But if you stop to think about the message on there too long it may scare you.
