Planning on quitting...

I have one more cigarette in the pack that I have now and after that I plan on quitting. The only problem is this. I smoke mainly out of stress nowadays. I can't smoke at work, only on my lunch break. So I usually have 1 when I wake up and I'm getting ready. 1 on the car ride to work. 1 on my lunch break and 1 on the way home. But right now my living situation is very stressful. I am living with a friend right now and she has a young child. I have never really been big on kids, but he never seemed too bad before, just spending a few hours every couple of days around him. But now that I have spent every day for the past almost 2 months with him, it's driving me insane. I don't even want to go home after work. But when I do finally make it home, I can go through a whole pack of cigarettes because of him. I don't know how I'm going to handle being around him and NOT smoking to relieve a bit of stress. Any suggestions?

Firstly, the very best of luck with quitting smoking. It sounds like you really just need help with the stress of dealing with this child, as opposed to the actual effects of smoking? You will probably find, however, that you'd be better to try some nicotine replacements, as the stress at home will add to the nicotine withdrawal. This way, you've got one aspect sorted. In terms of reducing stress at home, could you go for a walk? It's getting into the summer now, the weather's getting better, is there a park or somewhere you could go to chill out for half an hour? Try taking a bath (assuming the kid's not going to be banging the door down!).

Yeah, most times I don't even go home until like 8, when I get off work at 5. I'll roam wal-mart or get a bite to eat or something usually until 7, when I go see my boyfriend on his lunch break (he works 2nd). That helps some because by the time I get there, he'll sometimes be getting ready for bed or playing in his room or something. His mom isn't too big on an early bedtime. I remember when I was a kid, I had to go to bed at 7. Then the older I got, it increased an hour. Even all through high school I had to least go to room and lay down at 10.

I have added you to my prayer list. Yoo can do it! Do you have a room with a lock on the door? Maybe you can explain to the friend you are living with that you need time to yourself and go to your room. I know it will be a challenge. I read where someone else suggested a walk, that would be very good for you also. It will all work out. God bless you.
