I am about to upgrade my internet connection at home, and I am at a loss as to what ISP to use. Have visited some forums that discuss the different ISPs available, but it seems that they all have PROs and CONs... Any ideas/suggestions would be great...

Don't use Frontier. For me they've been slow and inconsistent, and the tech support doesn't know anything. They attribute every problem they don't understand to spyware. Spyware on my linux box. Right... :p The last time tech support came, I had to help them install their own modem.

hi weng. It depends on what part of the country you live. Some ISPs boast of fast connections but due to the fact that many people re using the same ISP, makes it somehow slow..

Hi Weng, Welcome to myLot. The price of connection these days has improved considerably to our advantage. Wireless broadband are slow(384 max) and a bit expensive, its handy version has the same speed but its not unlimited - meaning when you consume the alloted time, you additionally pay for the extra hour you used. ADSL offers 768kb(the cheapest plan) with free phone line at a less price than the wireless broadband. Your best move is try to see one of them in your area and compare their speed and services before taking one.

Oops, sorry about that...^^ I'm from the Philippines, and it seems like I get the same feedback for all of the ISPs available here - bad connection, poor customer service, etc... makes it hard. T.T

I normally don't have such a selection problem, I alway go for the lowest price. Now a days the speed is enough for personal use. At least you can take this off your check list.

Ask around your locality. See what provider gives best service to your area -- that is, internet connectivity and technical support. That will be the most reliable basis for you. Now, if you're lucky that PLDT DSL is available in your area, you can go for it. SmartBro is not doing fine these days here in my place in Rizal and also at my friend's place in Bulacan. Good luck!
