when it comes to China, what pops in your mind?

i have two nieces that are from china (adopted by my hubbys sister) and much more pops into my head than that. one orphanage was quite nice, the other was deplorable; tienamon square - it is denied in china that anything happened there; the great wall of china; the vast history of china (my 11 year old did a project on ancient china this past year) and yuans - that is the monetary form oh and chinese food - i love it!
