In forums like WAHM, i see many telecommuting jobs. Is it a job that could be done by staying from home.. like Virtual assistants or remote assistant? Or is it partially of the type above, and requires to go the work place, once in a while , say once in week. Kindly clarify. Thanks and cheers to all my comrades here.

Hi saivenkat, I was under the impression that telecommuting means the boss is at a safe distance from you, and you can work from the comfort of your home. Communication with the employer is through phone or skype or something like that. And after you deliver the work, you get paid through wire transfer or cheque. Cheers and happy mylotting!

Yes telecommuting means you are not commuting to an office on a daily basis. Many companies now allow their employees to telecommute 1 day a week at home. Many professional type of work at home jobs do require a visit to the headquarters several times a year at atleast.

Yup, telecommuting is just the practice of working from home. You may communicate with your fellow workers using e.g. teleconferencing or even MSN messaging. Whether you need to go back to the office is up to the company. For most cases, I think you need to go back at least occasionally.
