What are our elected officials paid for?

The oil companies are raising the price of oil every day because, they say, they would lose money if they didn't due to the rising cost of a barrel of oil. They are making record-breaking profits! People, in general, and not stupid enough to fall for that line of poop. We know they raise prices for their profits only. But oil companies are huge and we, as individuals, think we cannot do anything about it but tighten our belts and revise the way we live in order to 'make do'. We hired (voted for) officials to handle problems like this for us. We all have congressmen (and women). Why are they doing nothing about this insanity? Congress could save us from this, but they're not. I, for one, believe that they are lining their pockets from money received by the oil executives. But it doesn't really matter what the reason is. We should not have to pay for the immense profits of these oil moguls. Any suggestions? We need to get together on this and formulate a plan. This insanity has to stop now!
