I donot think the server is down aroud the world,but there might be some prob in your location for a short while.I have encountered the same incident several months before,but it turned out that it is my computer's prob.Running anti-virus,or even reinstallation is needed.But we cannot do anything but wait if the sever is down.It is true that I cannot access gmail quickly,and there were reports that youtube had been blocked and cannot be accessed in almost 24 hrs around the world at one time .That sounds terrible.
