last longer? My children absolutely LOVE strawberries - my husband and I do too but the kids usually eat them all first! The problem I have is that if I buy a few punnets of them to last us the fortnight they don't last, they go mouldy or all squishy & yuck. We have strawberry plants in the garden but for some reason they don't grow much fruit, but are expanding rapidly - and it isn't the season to grow them here either. Has anyone got any ideas on how to make the strawberries I buy last longer so I don't waste them?

Hi there Toosh! Some people here preserves strawberries by making strawberry jams. It tastes good. Are your children into jams?

My son loves strawberries! I however, am picky when it comes to fruits but love just about any vegetable. I love bananas. You should freeze them. It would make a good cold snack on a hot day. But I did see a commercial on the bags that keep your vegies and fruits fresh longer. It is supposed to keep them up to 10 days longer. I have not tried them though. I will try soon though. My kids can't have sugar but they can have all the natural sugar they want. So we go through a lot of fruit but sometimes it goes bad before we can eat it all. You should try looking on the internet for it. I can't remember what it is called but the bag is green. When I find it I will let you know. :-P

Oh wow, that sounds like just what we need! I am thinking of getting one of those machines that sucks all the air out & seals the freshness in & using that. Please do let me know if you find out what those bags are called though, thanks!
