I am a first time mom and my son is just 4 months old. When we first came home from the hospital he slept a great deal, but now that he is getting a bit older he keeps fighting his sleep like no other. Anybody have any tips or tricks to use?

Hi Hallmarkjl! Im also a first time mom and I feel your struggles in putting your baby into sleep. My baby is 6 months old and she's also hard to put into sleep but I now discovered some tricks in helping her to put into sleep and some had worked on her. Make a routine of your baby's sleep. Like giving him a warm bath, reading story, singing a lulluby, massage. Then choose a time where your baby could possibly feel sleep. After choosing the best possible time stick on that. Make his bedroom a good place to sleep. Adjust the light if necessary. His room must be quiet to help him fall into sleep. Watch for his signals. Babies do give signals when they feel like to sleep so better be attentive in that signals. Sometimes soothing baby is also a way of helping them to sleep.

All babies are different and different things will work with each one. What have you tried so far?My oldest son would fall asleep in the car so whenever he was fighting sleep we would take him for a little drive and a few minutes he would be knocked out.Of course gas then wasnt the price it is now, lol. My youngest son liked to be rocked to sleep,so thats what we would do just rock him until he fell asleep, sometimes it would be minutes and other times hours, lol. Now my daughter is quite spoiled, shes 10 onths old and we still have trouble getting her to go to sleep,be it day or night. She never wants to go.We usually put her on a pillow and shake her gently until she drifts off.Hope these things helped you some.

With our first child, our daughter, My wife would just sit at the end of the Bed till she went to sleep. It was almost like our daughter was afraid she'd miss something if she closed her eyes and went to sleep. I feel your pain. Good luck. Beamer23
