itchy leg hairs?

hello, i have been considering getting a tarantula for awhile now, but i have heard that there hairs are a skin irritant, is this true? also, i would like to know, how big does an average tarantula get?

I am going to assume that you know tarantulas can kill you if they bite you. Spiders are naturally icky to people and a phobia is associated with that but this obviously does not apply to you.
