My sister is too busy to discipline her children

My younger sister is too busy earning money that she already is failing as a mother. You see his husband is abroad but not earning that well and so she also has to work to help with the finances. But her two children all in their early twenties are now getting out of the limit especially the girl. I've been noticing how she would go out with her boyfriend till up to midnight and for this, I've been calling the attention of her mother. But it seemed that her mother does not have the hold anymore so just yesterday night when I visited their house and I found out that she was still not home, I waited till she arrived and it really was till 1:30 am and therefore I did not hesitate to rebuke her and her boyfriend and they really got sharp-tongue lashing from me. Do you think I did the right thing?
