How do you tell someone they should stop typing with ALL CAPS?

What do you think when people purposely (or unknowingly) type with their CAPS on. And, every letter ends up capitalized, except for the proper names and such? Does it bother you? Don't you just want to yell, "Hey dude! You're driving with your CAPS on. Cut 'em off!!!" Of course you can't, cause the person typing can't hear you. Wish they could. Cause if they could hear me, I'd tell them how hard it is to read what they're saying. I suppose it could be an accident. This happens to me all the time. I'll be typing away on a MyLot post and suddenly all the words start coming out in ALL CAPS. I think it's cause I hit the Caps Lock key by accident. That happens to everyone, I'm sure. Course, I click it again, to take it back to normal. But, I've noticed that some people don't do that on the Internet. And, I'm not just talking about MyLot. You can see it at almost every forum. People, typing with CAPS ON. It's kind of annoying. But, also sad. And, whenever the person is trying to capitalize something it turns out looking like this instead: cAN YOU TELL I LEFT THE CAPS LOCK ON? ARE YOU VOTING FOR pRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE oBAMA OR mCcAIN? Totally annoying. And, hard to read. It's more of an observation, than a complaint. I guess it doesn't bother some people. And, I say. Good for you. To each his own.

I find it annoying too - I suppose the only way to try to get them to stop is to ask them, but there's no guarantee they will stop, no matter how many times they are asked. I don't know why they do it - if the caps lock is down by accident, don't they look at what they type before they send it? Surely it's not rocket science to notice on the first word that all the letters are coming out in caps and then to release the caps lock....don't these people look at what they are typing or read it before sending the message? Or maybe they think that what they have to say is more important than anyone else's input? Really irritating!!!

Sometimes I do this because my eyes are bothering me (Multiple Sclerosis) so bad that I cannot see the regular type real well. But today is a good day and I can read the regular type. Maybe for some reason it could be their health? Maybe not?

I know it's annoying to read texts that are all capitalized. Maybe some people don't look at the monitor when they type and they are unaware that the Caps Lock was on. But before hitting the "post response" button shouldn't they read and review first what they have written? I might call his/her attention about the matter and if he/she still goes on doing it then I'll leave him'her and not reply to his/er post. Others just want to emphasize maybe but they are overdoing it and driving readers away instead.

Have to agree with you here, most annoying habit which some people have. As far as older folks are concerned who are just setting out with their pc, I think it may be because they tend to either write joined up, or else print in capitals. My Dad can only print in capitals, I don't think he was taught how to print in lower case - wierd eh. As others have said typing in capitals when emailing etc is considered to be like shouting. I tend to respond to friends and work colleagues who email in capitals by saying "No need to shout". We must tell these people, they have to learn. :)

I'd like to point out that it is not only annoyingly hard to read but also impolite. Having all caps in any kind of internet communication is considered shouting. That means that they are being mean and rude. I think it's different though if you are on a chat with somebody and the vibes are normal and suddenly stuff goes on caps. I mean heck that caps key is pretty dang close to my a and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that somebody with less than delicate fingers may hit that by accident.

lol I think it's funny when people do this. I find that, and no offense to anyone out there, it mostly happens to the older population and people just starting out using the computer/internet. It doesn't bother me as long as they don't continue to do it even after someone told them they have the capslock on...
