It's raining and the sprinklers are on

For a campus that pretty much makes sure you never forget their commitment to energy efficiency and "green" policies, this just makes me laugh. It was already soaked, and then the sprinklers came on because they are set to a calendar and timer, so on a certain date, pre-planed like a year ago, they start going on at regular "efficient" interval. Yeah right, they need a dampness detector to say when it can skip. Also, The heating systems in the dorms are also on these calendars. Last fall, even though it was really cold, there was no heat for like 2 weeks and everybody was really chilly because it wasn't that date yet. Then this spring we had a week of really warm weather but the heat wouldn't go off because it was like 2 weeks too soon, and we all roasted and couldn't sleep well. This isn't really that efficient if you ask me, not to mention the discomfort at times.
