A 19 yr old beat out a 70 yr old as mayor of Muskogee, Oklahoma. A cafe owner there said, 'he doesn't owe anybody anything, he doesn't have any baggage, and this is sort of a new start for Muskogee." What do you think of this?

I think it shows how stupid people are today. People are always making fun of McCain's age, and that is stupid, too. The man has experience....the older people get in this country the less respect they get.

Thanks for commenting, and I think you are right...the older people get in this country the less respect they get...let's face it they pay people more to pick up the trash than they do to take care of the elderly in nursing homes...

Not knowing a darn thing about it but what you stated, I think it's a little absurd. The only thing I can think of is that they were the only two running and everyone disliked the older guy so much, the younger one got it? No baggage? Now that's an interesting campaign highlight.

I think that it is great, IF this young man is mature enough to handle this sort of public position. I hope that he has a close family member that he is close to who he could turn to for political advice and tips. I live in Ohio but there is a town about 15 minutes from me in Michigan (Hillsdale) that also has a very young mayor. He was either 18 or 19 when he was elected also. I wish both of these young men the best of luck, hopefully they stay focused and don't make some of the silly mistakes that young people make at this age.
