Have you ever been in a mixed faith relationship? Do you think they can work or do you think the difference in beliefs places an extra stress on the relationship?

I can't speak for anyone else obviously but in my personal relationships my husband is agnostic, his family very Christian..and my bf found god about 2 yrs ago...I'm Pagan Buddhist...Does our differences in beliefs create stress? NOPE...becuase we respect each other and thats whats important.

I have never been in a mixed faith relationship. But, I have seen many successful one. You see, I live in India, the land of many faiths and philosophies. We are extremely tolerant of other's views over here, that is, at least Hinduism is, and we are all Hindus at heart. There are Muslim-Hindu marriages and Christian-Muslim marriages and inter-caste marriages too... well not that many, but there are quite a few!! I don't think religion should be a problem for a successful marriage. Baba Amte's wife was very religious while Amte was an atheist. Problems arise only when one of the partners is a fanatic and says that the other will go to hell if she or he doesn't believe what this particular partner believes.
