Why do different belief keeps growing and growing?

This day,there were so many religions in the world and I don't why is it happen? It shows only that people doesn't satisfy with each others belief that's why they created their own belief,many blame others,other tells that their belief is better.Why is this so?At the end,we are all going into DEATH.I haven't heard or proof that religion A goes to hell while religion B goes to heaven.
In this case, unity and peace in the world is not possible.I do believe that if we really wants to have unity and peace in the whole world,the first step I guess is to unite our belief.

I am a strong believer of my religion, the Roman Catholic. But I believe it's not really your religion that will bring you to heaven or to hell. It is how you are living your life in conformance with your faith. It doesn't matter if you are Protestant or Catholic, if you have lived a worldy life from the beginning til the end, consistently topping the list of satan in committing sins, then for sure, you'll go to hell.
What is important is: we have to bear in mind that we are just pilgrims in this world, there is still another life to come which is eternal.
