Dogs that bite

Have you ever had a dag that bit you? When I was growing up we had a miniature Schnauzer that was so sweet until she had puppies. After she had puppies she became very territorial and would start to snap and bite at people. She once even bit my little cousin when he was a toddler. Many people say that they would get rid of a dog if it ever bit someone. What do you think? we now have a miniature pincher who bites. She has never bitten anyone in my family but will bite others when she feels threatened. Do you think this warrants getting rid of a dog?

Unfortunately yes, however it does occasionally happen in my line of work. I have only recieved three bites in about 8 years of work and all three were from dogs who were ill or in pain. So understandable. I do find its the unpredictable ones we have to watch those who growl etc and warn are easy to read, those who just turn and bite are not. Its while I always say never reprimand a dog who growls all you teach them is not to warn you.

I had a wonderful West Highland Terrier purebread and raised him as a puppy after about 11 months he would for no reason go nuts and bite my wife, for no reason this only last mabe 30 seconds then he went back to normal like nothing happened? The vet nuetered him, didn't help. they gave him Parvo to mellow him out. Same I even worked with a dog shrink. All and all spent about 2,000 dollars nothin we could to save him and had him put down! I miss him to this day and that was 9yrs. ago! Thanks !tdemex

I wonder if it is the breed, because when I was little I was bitten by the same kind of dog. My bit did require stitches. I think if a dog bits anyone except someone breaking into your house it should be put down. I just don't think it's a good idea to keep a bitting dog.
