does weather affect a search dog's smell???

in my opinion it sure does.search dogs search best around dawn, when ground dew accentuates the scent of whatever is being tracked.ground tracking is more difficult at times of day, when the ground is drier. we tend to think of bloodhounds sniffing the ground, but many perhaps most search and rescue dogs-especially those used in mountain, avalanche and earthquake rescue-use their amazing air scenting abilities.the dog starts downwind from where the victim is thought to be and works forward picking up scent from the air.like ground scent, air scent is considerably affected by weather. please write in your opinions...
