does weather affect a search dog's smell???

dog - The German Shepherd, as its name implies, is trained for herding and protecting sheep. It is a popular guard dog, and is also used as a guide dog for the blind.

in my opinion it sure dogs search best around dawn, when ground dew accentuates the scent of whatever is being tracked.ground tracking is more difficult at times of day, when the ground is drier. we tend to think of bloodhounds sniffing the ground, but many perhaps most search and rescue dogs-especially those used in mountain, avalanche and earthquake rescue-use their amazing air scenting abilities.the dog starts downwind from where the victim is thought to be and works forward picking up scent from the ground scent, air scent is considerably affected by weather. please write in your opinions...
