People who are mean to animals- dogs especially

I was watching Animal Planet this afternoon. The show I was watching is Dallas APS which stands for Animal Protection Services I think. Anyway there was this mized dog who had been abandoned but he had this makeshift collar from twine embedded in his neck. It was so sad and apalling. They had to surgically remove the twine from his neck and leave the wound open for 2 weeks before they killed the infection and it was healed enough to sew his neck back together. The poor dog was so terrified to even be around humans that he would cower int he corner every time the trained got him out of his cage. Thankfully there is a happy ending to this story. The trainer was able to rehabilite the dog and he was adopted by a loving family with kids and now lives the "good life" as far as a dog is concerned. This story really touched my heart and made me tear up to see him a few months later at home with his new family. I am glad there are people out there to rescue hurt animals.
