Do Hotels In Your Area Still Have Bibles In Each Room?

Canada

Last night around 11:30 PM I found mysel locked out of my apartment, because I'd lost my keys. I called a taxi, and headed for a nearby Travel Lodge. Upon arriving, I noticed a Bible sitting on a shelf in the night stand. I have been to some hotels where having Bibles in the room wasn't permitted because some people thought it wasn't politically correct. What a load of bull. If you don't want to read the Bible, don't read it, but don't deny the rest o the world that chance. Someone else said "if we put a Bible in there, we'll need to put Korans, Books of Mormon, and other religious books in there. Why not? I'm a Presbyterian and as well as my Bibles I own a copy of the Holy Koran, and The Book Of Mormon. Anyway, do hotels and motels cary Bibles where you are? What is your view of religious literature in hotels and motels?

It have never been, and will never be bibles in motels and hotels in Norway.. I absolutely don't think they should palce bibles there, I don't think it's allowed here either..

Thank you for your comment. I realized a long time ago the world isn't going to acomodate me, so I should just enjoy that I agree with, and bypass what I don't.

In my home country (Malaysia), one can never find a Bible in hotels anymore. In the past, I know this was possible because my mum's first Bible actually came from a hotel in Malaysia. But now, I think one can get persecuted for putting such things in hotel rooms. Now that I'm in Australia doing my tertiary studies, I know that this practice is legal in Australia. This is because last year when I went to Melbourne with some friends for an interstate holiday, we stayed in a cottage-like motel by the road-side and in the rooms were a Bible. As me and my friends were all Christians, we were commenting on how things might be if the Bible was found in a hotel or motel room in Malaysia. Personally, I think it's a very good evangelistic way just putting Bibles (or Korans for the Muslims) in public places like that because people actually are curious to read stuff that are provided to them. Some people may be touched by the Holy Spirit while reading. PS: I'm a Presbyterian too!

Thank you, and it's nice to meet another Presbyterian. I wonder if there are countries who would persecute people for putting a Koran in a hotel room. Hmmm... Like I said, I'd be happy to see ALL those books in hotel rooms, or in shelves in the lobby, or available at the front desk, or something. I think i would be wonderufl. I'm so glad you agree.

I haven't stayed in a hotel for a year but the last one I did, did have a Bible. I can't remember a hotel not having one though I guess these days many don't for the reasons you mentioned. I don't read the bible while I'm in a hotel because I'm not in the room that much but it's nice to know that if I want to I can. I suppose it's comforting in a way.

In Malaysia where I come from, they used to have bibles in the hotel drawers or even in the hospitals if I'm not mistaken. But that was taken out & they no longer have them in these places anymore

As far as I know there is still one in the hotels around here. I personally wouldn't be bothered if there were other types of bibles along with the bible in the rooms.

you know I have no idea, I don't remember seeing any but then I never really used the desk, I was all in the room just to sleep and that was it.

I'm in England and I don't think I've ever visited a hotel or inn without a bible somewhere in the room. They're quite often in the drawer of the bedside cabinet. I'm not Christian, but I'm not averse to reading the Bible, from time to time. I like to learn about all sorts of religions and beliefs. There's nothing says we have to have the Koran or any other religious literature in the rooms, but a Bible is a long-standing tradition and I see no reason why it shouldn't be kept going, or why it should be changed in any way. Brightest Blessings.

Every single hotel I have stayed in since the year 2000 has had a bible in their rooms. And let me say, I've stayed in a lot of hotels over the past eight years. It kind of annoys me really, I don't understand why bibles are allowed but other religious books are not. I just don't think hotels should carry one religious book without offering any of the other religious books. Christains are not the only people to stay in their rooms.

That is interesting. But in my area (China), I havent seen any Bible in a hotel room yet. But there are many religious people. Personally I dont mind if they put a Bible in the room or any other books, as you said, we can always choose to read it or not to. But I am not religious.

Well i have only been in one hotel in a very long time and the last one i was in i didn't see one. I may have just missed seeing it but if it was there it was hiding pretty well cause i was in the the drawers of the hotel and don't remember seeing it. So maybe some still do and maybe some don't.

I haven't stayed at a Hotel yet that didn't have one. I personally never saw the reason for it myself. If you're religious to the point of reading the bible while you're traveling, you're going to take your own copy with you. As for having one of every type of "bible" out there... ridiculous. Bring your own all around if you ask me.

Hi danish, Every hotel I have stayed in always had a Bible and I am so very thankful for that. I know there are some people who would like to see the Bible taken away from hotels, just like every other place. Everyone needs to read the Bible. It is God's Holy Word to us. The Bible is the only Book that is totally from God. It is God-breathed and it was written by Godly men and inspired by God Himself. The other books are not. The Gideons is an organization that helps distribute Bibles and I thank them for their great ministry of helping to point others to Christ! God bless!

Since I haven't stayed in a hotel in the area I live in, I really don't know if they have Bibles or not but they should. Why should that change just for the few who cry the loudest? It is becoming more and more that the minority who decides to yell and protest and picket and cry and sue and whatever, that is making the decisions for the majority and I think that is wrong. I agree with you that if you don't want to read the Bible leave it on the table and if is offensive put it in the drawer or in the hallway! I have heard this said before, but I live in the US and I do believe that our country was founded on religion and it seems that those who do not like the way that things are done here might consider going back to where they came from............but think about it. Why should they when they are getting their way here??

It has been a while since I was in a hotel. I guess about a year. But yes there was a bible. I agree it would be interesting to have other books. Not to mention somewhat educational. Why Not, you ask? 2 reasons come to mind. 1. It could be costly to the hotel chain. And therefore they wouldn't consider it. 2. Some less open minded people may complain. That to could be costly for the hotel chain.

hi dc. last time i was in hotel in our area was yesterday. i took my daughter for a little leisure time and yup there was a bible at the table beside the bed. i appreciate this small gesture that hotels and motels do. the bible is a reminder for all of us about the word of our Lord.
