Learning the Swedish language is not easy.

But I am having fun with it. I met the most wonderful person in January of this year. He lives in Sweden. No, we are not in a relationship over the internet, but he has become one of my closest friends, separated by land and sea. After a while, I thought that it would be nice to move to Sweden. I live in the USA, but a nice change might be nice. Things are not bad here, and I have a wonder family and a wonderful friend. Maybe I need something new to appreciate what I have, or maybe I just need something new to appreciate experience. I plan on moving there after college, when I have the funds. Any advice? Both in learning the language, and adjusting to a new environment. Also, feel free to share your experiences (for any language or location), I would love to hear them.

Learning a new language is never easy. I'm now trying to learn Spanish and Japanese. The grammar for Spanish is quite different from English so there's a lot to remember and learn. Japanese language is very different from English. However, I do watch a lot of Japanese anime and dramas. That helps me in learning Japanese more effectively. Maybe you can try to watch Swedish movies with english subtitles. That might help.

My friend showed me a short film in Swedish, and it really helped because I was able to see what was going on and decipher what they were saying by using the events in the storyline. Spanish is very weird. I took classes on it, but it did not sink in as much as it should have. And, I heard that Japanese is very difficult, so I wish you much luck with that language.

Sounds great! I would love to learn a new language, i can only speak fluent english but have always been interested in setting myself the challenge. My great grandmother origanally Russian can speak 5 different language fluently and speaks in both russian and english everyday. She speaks Russian, English, Polish, German and italian.

That is interesting. ;o Did she learn those for fun, or did she need to learn those because there was a large population nearby speaking those languages? What do you want to learn most?

I think the best way of learning another language is to talk to someone from that country maybe you should try and hook up online with someone that speaks that language in one of the programs to actually chat on line...maybe there is some swedish people here you can make friends with...

I have one Swedish friend that I do that with. I am a bit antisocial (in the non talkative sense), so branching out would be a little difficult. I do have two other friends that I am considering going to for help, and a fourth that has not signed in for over a month. Hopefully I will find some friends on here that will be willing to help me out. :3 Maybe, if they need help with English, I may be able to return the favor. Thank you!

It is easier than I first thought it was, but it comes with its own difficulty. The more I look over Swedish sites and the more I talk to people from Sweden, the more I start understanding the grammar and why it is used and when. :3

I am from Sweden so if you would like some help with your learning you can just ask me. I really hope that you can come and move here and of course that you can master the language. Hoppas allt går bra :)

I was actually able to understand that, although three of the words are similar to English, and I already understood, "bra." =D I am still hoping, even after all of this time, and still learning from talking with friends and being around the language because of him. Thank you for all of your well-wishes.
