hospitals and Register Offices around the world are getting ready for a huge increase in births and marriages on the day the Olympic Games get underway in China. Chinese superstition holds that eight is a licky number and the opening ceremony will begin in Beijing at exactly 8.08 on 8/8/08... the luckiest time on the luckiest day of the year. Hospitals in China anticipate a surge in births as women demand caesarean sections, with many choosing to accept the medical risk of giving birth up to two months early before there due date, to ensure their babies have a lucky birth date. Many couples have also earmarked August 8 as there wedding day. A register Office in Shropshire reporting that they have twice as many bookings as they normally would have. One last thing to think about. In the month of August 1988 on the 8th can you remeber who was born on that day??? Prince Andrew and his wife's first baby Beatrice!!!!!!

well that is nice that little beatrice was born on that day, but to me one day is the same as any other, not much different happening one way or the other. Interesting how people would go as far as risking their own born child's life for the sake of a lucky day though.
