Is Gomez Peer A Spyware

I just signed up for this but realized that the application (java) that is to be installed for this program could be a spyware. Does anyone have any experience with this application?

I have Gomez Peer for over 2 years now. I havent had a problem and I make just over 5 dollars every 2 months true not a lot but it is something for leaving the computer/laptop on
