Do you give up or end up eating more when you are depressed?

Whenever I am depressed I crave for junk food and over eat. This self indulgence makes me more guilty and more sad because I put on weight. Later when I am better I do hit the gym or go for my walks to reduce, but I am back to square one the minute I get sad. Its like a vicious cycle, a horrible loop from which I am just not able to come out. Does something like this also happen to you?

when I get depressed/stress I end up loosing my appetite. which sucks because its not fun trying to make yourself eat. I've been going through this a lot lately. Dont feel to bad at least you go for your walks and things.!

I have been through a time of major depression and did gain a lot of weight during that time. I certainly am a stress/depression eater. I always seem to find comfort in food when I feel terrible. Even while doing this, I know that it isn't the right choice and I know that if I would replace that stress/depression eating with exercise, I know that I would feel even better after exercising than I do after eating the comfort food. But it just becomes a vicious cycle for some. You eat because you are stressed or depressed and then you feel worse from eating, therefore you just end up eating more..ugh what a bad situation to get into. I have been there and I won't go back!!

Whenever I am depressed I tend to be alone with myself - AND eat lots and lots of chocolate or any other sweets available in our refrigerator. Sometimes, junk foods would also be my solution especially if we have no sweets around. :( Being sad does end anyway, so what I do is to pray to God and be comforted and then about a few minutes or so, I would find myself better and more relaxed and is able to face the world on my own again. :)

When I get really depressed I stop eating, almost entirely. I've fainted a few times from not eating for so long. It's silly really, eating healthy etc would probably HELP with making the depression lessen but we always do the opposite of what helps.
