Give your dog some treats before you start with training. For example is you want your dog to seat teach him how too and then when he obeys you give him some treats. I used to that on my Labrador. He loves to eat bread that's why I prefer teaching/training him with a lot of treats. Labrador are one of the most intelligent dogs. The first time I trained him to seat is when I touch his butt and because he's begging for bread I told him to seat first, He was really like yelling me and bark, I said "stop" and just seat and while waiting for the bread he's still seating and just waiting. Funny but even I hide the bread he knows I had one in my pocket. I knows the smell of the bread.

My dog is also like that sometimes. He doesn't return the ball but try to give belly rub or tell him "good boy, give me the ball and he will give it to you. its funny because sometimes instead of giving the ball he walks away. hahaha.. Dogs are really fund of playing and never tired of running with their toys, maybe this is one way how they express they are really enjoying.

We have two chihuahuas, but we dont bother training them, but a tip I would suggest is give them a treat when they do what you want,so that way they will be more willing to cooperate because they know each time they do they will get rewarded.

My dog before isn't that friendly to other people, he gets mad easily the moment he sees somebody else. So I thought of some thing that will make him afraid.. But that was so hard to do, it took me months to train him. Until I discover that he is afraid of the long thin stick. Once I place it in front of him without me saying anything, he will automatically lie down, keep quiet and never move until the stick is in his front. The moment I remove the stick he will stand up immediately. Anyway, that was a trick that I just discovered.
